HUMPBACK whales appeared both inside and outside Sydney Harbour this morning, delighting passengers on Manly ferries.

The first pair was spotted frolicking within the Harbour before 6am this morning, performing fluke-up dives as they gradually made their way back out through the heads.

Will Ford from Whale Watching Sydney, which also operates the Manly Fast Ferry service, said the mother and calf went as far as Sydney Harbour Bridge, the furthest he has seen humpbacks go.
